Our Projects

Welcome to our Transit Projects section, where we proudly showcase the innovative and impactful transit projects developed by DVSA. Here, you'll find a comprehensive list of our initiatives designed to enhance transportation systems and improve connectivity in communities. Explore how our commitment to excellence is shaping the future of transit.

Municipal Transit Data Integration

This initiative integrates all transit data from all the municipalities in Puerto Rico with fixed routes into a centralized data platform.

The project assess data quality, identifies opportunities for standardization, and develop a roadmap for seamless integration. The resulting framework supports data-driven decision-making and improves coordination between local and regional transit systems.

Virtual Survey: Impact of Ridership During the Fare-Free Period

The virtual survey designed and analyzed a comprehensive public survey to better understand travel behaviors during a six-month fare-free period.

The project involved survey design, implementation, data collection, and statistical analysis, producing insights that inform service design decisions.

Micromobility Route Design

The Micromobility Route Design project developed design recommendations to enhance selected corridors with Complete Streets elements for pedestrians and cyclists.

By identifying potential corridors and proposing design improvements, the study promoted safer, more inclusive spaces for pedestrians and cyclists.

North Corridor Analysis

The North Corridor project supported the design of transportation policies to enhance connectivity, access, and mobility across Puerto Rico’s northern and metropolitan regions.

The work included a detailed analysis of demographic and economic conditions, alignment with the Long-Range Transportation Plan, and the development of a project proposal with defined goals, potential alignments, and a preliminary cost analysis to inform future decision-making.

Microtransit Program

This project explored the potential for on-demand microtransit services as a complement to fixed-route services.

The study reviewed best practices, analyzed user behavior and service opportunities, and identified key areas within the San Juan Metropolitan Area for implementation.

PRITA GTFS 2023

The initiative enabled PRITA to publish transit information in a consistent, machine-readable format—facilitating integration with multiple software applications and services.

The project included research and analysis of existing GTFS files, identification of uses and opportunities, documentation of general practices, and the development of GTFS 2023 v1.0. Final recommendations were also provided to support future updates and implementation.

Technical Specifications for the Bus Network Improvement Study RFP

The project established the technical framework and requirements to support Puerto Rico’s public transportation planning efforts.

It involved defining the scope and technical needs for the Bus Network Analysis, developing detailed specifications to guide the RFP process, and engaging with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and best practices in transportation planning and public engagement. The project resulted in a comprehensive technical specifications document.

Recommendations for a Public Engagement Program

This project developed a structured roadmap for creating a public engagement program, supported by a virtual participation platform.

The team reviewed best practices, regulatory frameworks, and existing participation methods to develop actionable recommendations that strengthen  community involvement through modern digital tools.

Bikeshare Service Pilot

This pilot initiative evaluated opportunities to implement a bikeshare program within Puerto Rico’s northern and metropolitan regions.

The project reviewed prior studies, analyzed demographic data to identify optimal station locations, prepared preliminary cost estimates, and recommendations.

Technical Specifications for the Ceiba–U.S. Virgin Islands Ferry Route Feasibility Study RFP

This study evaluated the feasibility of establishing a maritime transportation route between Ceiba, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Our work involved reviewing best practices from comparable ferry services, preparing a detailed scope of work for the proposed route analysis, and developing a timeline and cost estimate. The project also identified a list of qualified consulting firms to carry out the study, laying the groundwork for future cross-island connectivity.

GTFS Real-Time Implementation Pilot

The GTFS Real-Time project introduced standardized real-time data sharing for Puerto Rico’s public transportation systems.

It involved defining data requirements, validating live data access, integrating feeds into Google Transit, and conducting field testing to ensure accuracy and reliability—enhancing the passenger experience through up-to-date service information.

PRITA's Strategic Framework 2023

The Strategic Framework 2023 initiative redefined the mission, vision, and strategic objectives of the Puerto Rico Integrated Transit Authority (PRITA).

Our team reviewed PRITA’s institutional development, analyzed current conditions, and developed strategic recommendations to strengthen its capacity for delivering an integrated, efficient, and sustainable transit system.

GTFS Management 2025

The GTFS Management 2025 project established a dedicated service for the ongoing maintenance, improvement, and support of Puerto Rico’s GTFS data and systems.

It focused on ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of transit data through continuous improvement and structured maintenance. The project involved forming a dedicated GTFS support team, implementing three major system enhancements, conducting regular data validation and audits, and optimizing performance to reduce response times for GTFS-related issues—strengthening integration with third-party applications and improving the overall passenger experience.

Municipal Transit Data Integration Roadmap

The Municipal Transit Data Integration Roadmap project explored the critical role of consolidating municipal transit data to improve analysis, reporting, and decision-making across Puerto Rico’s transit systems.

It involved reviewing data-driven planning practices, identifying best practices and opportunities, and assessing transit data available at PRITA and municipal levels. The project also defined objectives, recommendations, and data requirements for integration, culminating in a roadmap to guide the implementation of a unified municipal transit data framework.

PRITA Transit Data Roadmap

The Transit Data project developed a clear roadmap for documenting and enhancing the agency transit data systems.

Through workflow mapping, stakeholder analysis and the creation of a comprehensive service blueprint, the project established a vision and set of objectives for data-informed, user-centric transport planning.

Micromobility Program

The Micromobility Program established a structured approach for integrating mobility options, such as bicycles and scooters, into the metropolitan area transportation network.

The project assessed current conditions, identified opportunities, and defined a series of short, medium, and long-term strategies to support metropolitan-level implementation and promote sustainable urban mobility.

GTFS Management 2024

The GTFS Management 2025 project established a dedicated service for the ongoing maintenance, improvement, and support of Puerto Rico’s GTFS data and systems.

It focused on ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and efficiency of transit data through continuous improvement and structured maintenance. The project involved forming a dedicated GTFS support team, implementing three major system enhancements, conducting regular data validation and audits, and optimizing performance to reduce response times for GTFS-related issues—strengthening integration with third-party applications and improving the overall passenger experience.
